Hornsea School Green Britain Day

We’d like to share this feedback from Hornsea School’s Green Day that we participated in;

Good morning Sara and Tracey

I just wanted to pass on our sincere thanks to you for supporting our Green Britain Day on Friday.
It was a fantastic day and feedback from both students and staff has been really positive – students commented how much they enjoyed the day and having the opportunity to learn about things in a different way to a normal school day. They particularly liked the challenges/competitions set and interactive elements of the day.
We would really like to organise Green Britain Day 2013 and it would be great if you would like to join us and support the event again next year? If this would interest you, please let me know – you dont have to commit to it, but would be good to know if you would like to join us again if possible
Thank you so much once again for helping to make such a fantastic Green Britain Day at Hornsea School

Best wishes

Summer holiday competition

Here’s a story about how we’re doing our bit as responsible parents to help you to keep the cherubs occupied during the long summer holiday…

Ethical Hull company Bio-D has launched a competition to encourage children to consider the environment.

The Sutton Fields based business is inviting primary and secondary school pupils to write or draw about what saving the environment means to them and the winning submissions will win a year’s subscription to National Geographic Kids magazine.Mar12-Kids-Cover-Small.jpg

Of the initiative, Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby said; “We had such a positive response to the workshop that we did on the same theme for Hornsea School’s Green Day that we thought that we’d roll it out as a summer holiday competition.”

To enter the competition, all that the children have to do is a piece of writing or draw a picture that answers the question “What does environmentally friendly mean and why does it matter?” and send it with their name, address, age and parent’s permission to The Bio-D Company, Unit 5A, Bergen Way, Hull, HU7 0YQ or e mail to sara@biodegradable.biz. There will be one first prize for 12 and under and one for 12 and over and 10 runners up prizes.  The closing date is the 3rd September.

We look forward to being inundated with your entries! Have fun!

We’ve got an online shop!

Here’s our latest news – announcing the launch of our online shop.  Given that you’re already here, why not take a look – it really is rather good!

Ethical company Bio-D has made it easier for loyal customers to buy its environmentally responsible cleaning and laundry products with the launch of an online shop.

The Hull based business invested heavily in a new e commerce website following research that suggested customers found it difficult to find retailers who stock the complete range.

Of the new website, Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby said; “We’re really pleased that our whole range is now available to all of our customers irrespective of geography and are very encouraged by the sales so far.”

The new website address is www.biodegradable.biz and there is free UK delivery on orders over £40.

Hornsea School Green Day

Last month we had a great day celebrating Hornsea School’s successful Green Day.

We were delighted to be asked to present workshops to the students from schools in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Germany! We held a ‘design a poster’ competition and congratulations to Jarrod, Mahalia, Lilly, Amy and Ebonny for their winning entry.

They were delighted to receive i-Tunes vouchers and a free bottle of the new Bio-D anti-baterial hand wash.

Another satisfied customer!

Environmentally friendly washing up liquid from Bio-DI love your concentrated washing-up liquid! It is such a brilliant product I will never go back to chemical-based washing-up liquid – even my mum has been converted!

Thanks to Jessica for this rave review

Here’s our latest news – we’re very excited to be involved with this great project, so thanks to Sally and Beci at Hornsea School & Language College in East Yorkshire;

Press release

Ethical Hull company Bio-D has been invited to participate in Hornsea School & Language College’s second Green Britain Day Conference on 11th May.

The school’s Community Partnership Coordinator Sally Richardson contacted the Sutton Fields business after reading about Bio-D’s success in achieving the ISO 14001 environmental accreditation last year.

Commenting about the Green day, Sally said; “Further to the success of last year’s event, we have decided to open up the conference and will be welcoming over 240 pupils from Hornsea and six visiting schools, including one from Germany.

It promises to be an interesting and engaging day that promotes environmental responsibility and we have secured keynote speakers including local MP Graham Stuart and Steve Clarke from SMartWind.”

Bio-D will be delivering three interactive workshops to the pupils about the importance of respecting the environment and will feature a creative competition for pupils to win i-Tunes vouchers.

Bio-D Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby is delighted to support the initiative and said; “It’s crucial that people appreciate that we all have a role to play in safeguarding the environment for future generations and we hope that the pupils will find the workshops thought provoking and enjoyable.”

Hornsea School & Language College is a Bronze Eco School that benefits from a newly established Eco-Action Group that is committed to the long term sustainability of the school and its community.

Bio-D’s antibacterial 1st

We’re pleased to share our latest press release with you and look forward to receiving your feedback about the new products;

A Yorkshire manufacturer of biodegradable cleaners has launched a new range of antibacterial products.

The Bio-D Company launched the new Hand Wash, Multi Purpose Spray and Multi Surface Cleaner at the Natural and Organic Products Europe exhibition at Olympia on 1st April. All three products are proven to kill 99.9% of all harmful bacteria including Salmonella, MRSA and E Coli but contain only natural ingredients that are hypoallergenic and will not damage the environment.

Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby explained the rationale for the launch; “Hand washing is the single most important step in preventing the spread of MRSA. We have had many enquiries from customers looking for safe, yet effective antibacterial products and have spent much time perfecting the formulation.  We’re very pleased with their performance and look forward to launching them at the exhibition.” The new products, which are also food safe for catering clients, will be available from good independent health food stores and ethical e-tailers nationwide from June.

Bio D’s range of natural, biodegradable household products also includes washing up liquid, laundry liquid, laundry powder, fabric conditioner, dishwasher powder and rinse aid, multipurpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass and window cleaner, toilet cleaner and disinfectant.
