Bio-D’s antibacterial 1st

A Yorkshire manufacturer of biodegradable cleaners has launched a new range of antibacterial products.

The Bio-D Company launched the new Hand Wash, Multi Purpose Spray and Multi Surface Cleaner at the Natural and Organic Products Europe exhibition at Olympia on 1st April. All three products are proven to kill 99.9% of all harmful bacteria including Salmonella, MRSA and E Coli but contain only natural ingredients that are hypoallergenic and will not damage the environment.

Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby explained the rationale for the launch; “Hand washing is the single most important step in preventing the spread of MRSA. We have had many enquiries from customers looking for safe, yet effective antibacterial products and have spent much time perfecting the formulation.  We’re very pleased with their performance and look forward to launching them at the exhibition.” The new products, which are also food safe for catering clients, will be available from good independent health food stores and ethical e-tailers nationwide from June.

Bio D’s range of natural, biodegradable household products also includes washing up liquid, laundry liquid, laundry powder, fabric conditioner, dishwasher powder and rinse aid, multipurpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass and window cleaner, toilet cleaner and disinfectant.

Green Hull business wins Farm Shop Business

As the spring cleaning season draws closer, we’re delighted to share some good news with you – here’s our latest press release;

Hull business Bio-D is celebrating after winning a contract to supply a prestigious West Yorkshire farm shop with environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic cleaning products.

Sutton Fields based Bio-D is supplying Keelham Farm Shop with 19 best selling lines including Washing Up Liquid, Glass and Mirror Spray, Toilet Cleaner and Disinfectant.

Bio-D MD Lloyd Atkin is delighted to win the new business and said; “Keelham is one of the biggest Farm Shops in Yorkshire and we’re proud to supply them.  We identify with their ethos of supporting local producers and look forward to making our products available to more consumers in West Yorkshire.”

Bio-D manufactures environmentally responsible cleaning and laundry products that are UK made, effective, biodegradable and hypoallergenic.  They are produced from sustainable, naturally derived raw materials and do not contain petrochemicals, chlorine or optical brighteners.  All of the Bio-D range is suitable for use with septic tanks and are BUAV and Vegan Society approved.

In addition to Keelham Farm Shop, Bio-D products are sold in independent health food shops, Booths, Oxfam, Comet and on line retailers including Ethical Superstore, Goodness Direct, CLF and Spirit of Nature and Big Green Smile.

 

Expansion plans prompts recruitment

Leading green cleaning products business Bio-D is expanding its team with the recruitment of an Operations Manager

Roy Tanton from Beverley has been recruited to the new position to help the Hull based business to review policies and procedures and to improve manufacturing efficiencies at its Sutton Fields site.

Roy gained his operations management experience at home with Anglia Oils (now AAK UK) and BR Pharmaceuticals and abroad in Madagascar and Papua New Guinea where he commissioned new plants and delivered workforce training.

Of the appointment, Roy said; “It’s a really exciting time to be joining the team at Bio-D and I look forward to helping them to deliver their growth objectives.”

MD Lloyd Atkin is equally happy with the appointment; “We’re very pleased that Roy has joined us and look forward to benefitting from his considerable expertise.”

When he’s not working, Roy follows Leeds United and enjoys walking his white German Shepherd Dylan.

Bio-D is owned by Sara Holtby and Lloyd Atkin who bought the business in March 2010 from founder Mike Barwell.  Roy’s appointment takes the number of staff up to 8.
