Celebrating 25 sustainable years with a festive competition

Folder(2014-10-20)0001Leading Hull based ethical cleaning and laundry products manufacturer, Bio-D is calling on children’s artistic talents to help them to design a 25th anniversary Christmas card.

To celebrate 25 sustainable years of making environmentally friendly products at its Sutton Fields factory, Bio-D is inviting schoolchildren to enter a competition to win a year’s subscription to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

Commenting on the competition, Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby said: “We’re very proud to have reached our 25th anniversary and couldn’t have done it without the support of our customers.  We wanted our junior fans to be able to join in the celebrations too, so we have set up the design a Christmas card competition.”

To enter, children should draw a Christmas picture with an eco theme and send it to Bio-D via facebook, by post to Sara at Bio-D, 31 Bergen Way, Hull HU7 0YQ or to 25sustainableyears@three60marketing.co.uk before 30th November.  The winner will be selected on 5th December. The wildlife theme complements the work that Bio-D has done in the Wolds village of Nunburnholme with The Warter Five in Humberside Police’s Lifestyle Project.

Ethically-motivated Hull company in the running for business awards

Small business finalist Hull Mail 2014Hull-based eco business Bio-D is hoping for success in the Small Business of the Year category of the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards 2014.

The independent ethical cleaning products firm has seen a high turnover, profits rising and with profits expected to reach 30% profit this year, the business has set its sights on big businesses, including Waitrose.

Bio-D’s growth has been attributed to a brand redesign, new product development and improvements to pack format to ensure that they remain at the forefront of the eco-friendly cleaning market.

Bio-D’s Managing Director Lloyd Atkin said: “Being shortlisted in the Small Business of the Year category is excellent recognition of our commitment to producing environmentally responsible detergents.

“We are very proud to be a finalist, especially in our 25th anniversary year” he added.

Bio-D products are currently sold through Oxfam, Booths, high street health food stores and a variety of online retailers including www.biodegradable.biz.

Alongside expansion into bigger businesses, the cleaning products company hope to add more deals in the catering, cleaning and public services sector.

The Hull Daily Mail Business Awards ceremony will be held at Willerby Manor Hotel in Hull on Thursday November 20.

Politician Lord Mandelson is set speak at the ceremony where he is expected to share his thoughts on the future of East Yorkshire with guests.
