Ethical company Bio-D has joined forces with a fledging Hull business to bring ethically clean wheelie bins to Hull.

When 27 year old Sam Haxton-Bernard set up EcoClean Wheelie Bin Cleaners with assistance from the Princes Trust earlier this year, he approached Sutton Fields company Bio-D for the cleaning materials to give his business the edge.

Sam said; “When the council decided to empty bins fortnightly instead of weekly, I had the idea to start a bin cleaning service. I knew that I wanted to do something different and I wasn’t aware of anyone else offering a ‘green’ service so I decided to go for it and start an environmentally friendly bin cleaning service. It was definitely the right idea as my customers like the fact that I’m using natural products that won’t harm the environment and they love the way that they clean the bins.”

Sam’s commitment to the environment doesn’t end with the cleaning materials as he also has a water recycling facility in his custom built bin washing van so that he can reduce his water consumption.

Satisfied customer Raeann Rooms posted a comment on EcoClean’s facebook page that said; “I have been using their services for a few months now and can honestly say they are brill – they do a wonderful job” whilst Katie Pryde commented on ‘before and after’ photos of the bins; “Wow! Look how clean those bins are!! Eat your dinner out of em!”

Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby said; “We’re really pleased to be able to support Sam’s innovative business venture and we wish him every success.”

Sam uses a Bio-D sanitiser to neutralise odours before he cleans the bins and a natural eucalyptus disinfectant to refresh them after washing. EcoClean Wheelie Bin Cleaners covers all Hull and surrounding villages and costs £3 per bin.
